The Smarter Service was proud to take the stage at the Argentum Senior Living Executive Conference (SLEC) in Nashville on May 18 to discuss one of the biggest challenges facing senior living today: ensuring technology investments actually deliver meaningful outcomes for residents, staff, and communities.
Our COO, Vida Roozen, joined Elwood “Tony” Conaway III, VP of Information Technology at BHI Senior Living, for a session titled Driving Occupancy and Operational Gains with a Transformative Tech Concierge Program. Together, they shared learnings, outcomes, and real-world insights from BHI’s partnership with The Smarter Service.
The session focused on the growing gap between technology investment and technology adoption in senior living. As communities continue investing in resident engagement platforms, smart devices, health technology, and digital tools, many residents still need hands-on support to confidently use the technology available to them.
Vida and Tony discussed how BHI Senior Living partnered with The Smarter Service to help bridge that gap through dedicated Tech Concierge support. Following a successful pilot program, the initiative expanded across all 12 BHI communities after helping resolve more than 600 resident tech issues, reclaiming 20% of staff time, and generating a reported 3.4x ROI per community.
The presentation also explored how improving resident tech confidence can support stronger engagement, reduce staff interruptions, increase utilization of existing technology platforms, and allow internal IT teams to stay focused on strategic priorities instead of day-to-day troubleshooting.
We were grateful for the strong engagement during the session and the thoughtful conversations that followed. One of the biggest takeaways from the discussion was clear: technology only creates value when people feel confident using it.
Thank you to Argentum, BHI Senior Living, and everyone who joined us in Nashville for the conversation.
